Yesterday morning mom said she had to go watch the clothes go around in the washer at the Laundromat. Shhheesh mom sure must have a dull life eh? She took the winter bed covers to the Laundromat to wash them cause she thinks summer has finally arrived. Mom backed down to the clothes line and got them out of the trunk and hung them out. Now the summer ones are on the beds again. Happy Mothers day to your mom. We had a great time at the derby yesterday and last night. Congratulations to all the winners on the horses and the hat contests too. I guess mom is tired of flying around too cause she went to get her feathers cut last evening too. Pretty soon she was perming what she had left and I was yelling for her but dad said she wouldn’t be out till she was done. He said the stink was not good for birdies or him for that matter. This morning mom had a few things to do around here and then she went to visit with her sister a while. She is here for the summer and usually comes back but didn’t last summer so mom didn’t see her for a long time. Moms sister used to live in Wyoming but sold the ranch and outfitters business when her husband retired from the soda mine. Now they spend the summers in Pennsylvania and the winters in Arizona. Mom usually gets in the walk/run race that is held on the trail every year. It was held yesterday and mom didn’t sign up for it right away cause she hadn’t walked much all winter and then when she did her back hurted so wasn’t sure if it would quit. By the time she thought she might sign up for it, it was too late. Now mom is glad she didn’t with the cold windy day we had here on yesterday and even saw sleet coming down a bit too! Dad helped with it and he came home and was froze and had a winter coat, hooded heavy sweatshirt and two shirts on so mom was happy to stay in the warm house. “Some people have asked mom how she can be friends with someone she has never met. Boy mom was out and about a bit yesterday. She went to the bird social at the warehouse and got to see Boo boo and Cori mom and also Falco, Willie and Giz mom too. Thought she would get to see Tia mom but didn’t so hoping some time again then. Mom has been a bit sore the last few days. Skin sis and mom went walking and did 4 miles so mom was hurting pretty good. Then dad decided to go ride his bike on the trail yesterday so mom went with him and walked more then 3 miles so now she is really hurting. Hope you had a very nice Easter and the bunny bought you lots of goodies too. I did some flying today again. Mom says when I start to yell loud I need exercise and she gets me to fly. I flew two laps around the living room and dining room today and a few times from the bedroom to the dining room. We didn’t have a typist at the milonga but we had a great time and I spent a lot of time dancing with my girlfriend, Suzi. The parronts went to some function for the trail so they didn’t get home till late and I was soon ready for bed as soon as I got my good night kiss from mom. Last night mom thought it was bed time for me and convinced me to get on my bed time perch and covered me up for the night. Pretty soon I started talking and kept it up so mom knew I wasn’t ready for bed yet so she got me out and I sat with mom a while longer. We discussed a few things and I watched mom type my blogs and some of Chi chis and then pretty soon mom put me back on my condo. HELLO, SKY here with this Wednesday's Spotlight on Caring, featuring DJ Luigi and his Momma Dania .
SKY: Welcome Luigi and Momma Dania. Please tell us when and how you first became interested in birds.
Momma Dania; I became interested in birds and pets since I was 4 years old! I loved animals and I wasn't afraid of dogs bigger than me. I became interested in birds when I first saw my grandma's Budgie when I was six years old. I played with it everyday until when I was 9 years old, the Budgie died.
SKY: When did you become a bird owner?
Momma Dania; I became a bird owner because I was bullied in school. I always wanted a pet and begged my parents for one. I ended up with two birds because I tricked my parents into getting a coupled bird! My parents got me a pet because I was always lonely at school and didn't have anyone to talk to. So having a pet was like having a friend to talk to.
SKY; How did you learn about BC?
Momma Dania; I joined BC when my friend who owned a budgie named Moby told me about BC and said how it could help me raise my lovebirds.
SKY; Tell us all how you learned how to look after Luigi ( and Angel)? Momma Dania; I learned a lot by talking with my family who have experience with birds and some of my friends.
SKY: Momma Dania, please tell us about Luigi and his former mate Angel.
Momma Dania; Luigi was a juvenile peach-faced lovebird when I bought him and his mate Angel from the bird breeder who breeds lovebirds and budgies. She owns a website called Heartsong aviary. Angel is a peach faced lutino lovebird. She became aggressive when she was 5 months. She was extremely aggressive but with patience and care, she became a loving bird! After her hormonal phase passed, I taught her not to bite. Over time, she was able to step up and go on my shoulder. Luigi on the other hand, was a sweet lovebird. He is really silly and likes to act silly to get my attention. I actually communicated with my birds to ask if they wanted to get out of the cage by bobbing my head up and down and they would respond by getting ready to jump on the door! Throughout the months I had trouble breeding Angel and Luigi at first . I got tips on birdchannel for breeding my birds. After a few tries they got baby birds twice but they sadly didn't make it. I decided to sell Angel because she wanted to continue breeding, so I gave her to a family who rescues birds. She is now with Sunny, a young peach-faced lovebird of 7 months who plucked his feathers when he lost his wife-bird. His wife bird was badly hurt and didnt make it.
SKY: What are your future bird pIans? Momma Dania; One day I will return to my home country Lebanon to start a big aviary and breed Hyacinth macaws. I study about different parrots and hope to be able to help save these endangered beauties.

Mom ordered the Rio movie used on Amazon cause she wanted to be able to watch it again with us and for the grands to see it too. Mom changed most of the clocks in the house yesterday since its spring ahead. Mom doesn’t like this time but says what is she going to do about it. She feels like she is always running behind and shoes in her hand trying to be somewhere on time. By July she is usually ok with it then. Today a package came in the mail and mom said oh boy we can watch this together Chi chi and Gus. It sure didn’t look like something we could watch but mom took us down stairs to the game room and put it on the television and it was a movie about birds. Thanks for your condolences on Oreo. The grand that comes and stays a weekend every month was here this weekend. Oh boy I sure do like sitting with her and if mom puts me on the waste basket I do the hurry up real fast so I can sit with her some more. Last night I wouldn’t go to bed and just wanted to sit with the grand. Finally the grand said she was going to bed cause she was tired and off she went. Over five years ago the one grand wanted a bird so mom got her a cockatiel and she still has it. The other grand wanted a guinea pig so mom got her one. They both named them Oreo though neither knew the other had either. Mom called skin sis today and could tell she was crying and here the guinea pig had passed away this morning. The grand didn’t know since she had to leave for pitching softball and skin sis kept her away from the guinea pig cage. Later mom talked to the grand on the phone and she was upset but don’t think as upset as skin sis was. Mom told skin sis she would take her to get her another guinea pig but skin sis no she didn’t really want anymore cause they sure make a big mess and lots of work. Now skin sis did have one as a child but it was our mom that did the cleaning of it so skin sis didn’t know they were that much work till the grand got one LOL. At least they got him buried and we will miss him but have great memories and he had such pretty pink eyes…RIP Oreo. “Make new friends, but keep the old. Sure hope that groundhog isnt fibbing to us! Mom and dad and skin sis and the two grands went to a museum yesterday and they all enjoyed that. Then they went up the street which is called the strip district and has lots of stores on the streets. Mom always gets olives at the one place. Of course they had to eat at Wholeys which is a fish store and love the fish there. Mom made some cards today. She didn’t take me down stairs so I kept yelling to her. She would answer and I kept getting louder and louder. Finally she came upstairs and gave Chi chi some paper to chew on. Mom worked at the dining room table then and I went over to her and she picked me up and gave me one of those papers. I twirled it around but didn’t see what fun Chi chi has with them. Must be missing something here. Mom cleaned up down stairs some today and then she took it pretty easy. Mom says a moms work is never done though and not much of taking it easy is really easy. We did see her sitting reading the paper though so that counts as taking it easy I say. Thanks for liking our Christmas pictures. Aunt Theresa made them for us and we love them too. Today mom wanted to go visit the grands since the grand sons birthday is the 17th but he will be in school on that day. Mom loaded everything in the car for the birthday boy and also the Christmas gifts too as well as the birthday money jar which they all get to dip in once a year for their birthday. As mom left we heard her exclaim “no crocheting today but lots of fun to be had”. That feather trim didn’t keep mom home yesterday. Mom went to a craft show with Willie, Falco and Giz mom. She came home and said what a wonderful time and saw so many crafts too. BC is sure slow tonight! Mom and dad went up to the farm today and when they came home they had dads mom with them. Mom says she is going to stay with us for a while. Mom has this idea she needs to look at furniture for the living room but ours is still good but guess she is looking for when she does need it. She went to the furniture store today but didn’t see anything she was all excited over so that is good dad says. Mom went to the craft store too and I have the feeling that mom has more crafts up her sleeve again…at least that keeps her home LOL. Last week when mom and dad went to the farm they were putting manure on the fields. Some was on the lane so it got under the car and stunk up the garage. Mom went to visit skin brother today and the 3 grands went with mom to the car wash. It doesn’t stink as bad now. I think mom has finally admitted winter is around the bend. She bought the plants in the house and then took all the stuff she had out on the porch and put it away for the winter. I do miss the chimes ringing though she said she hung them down stairs and we can play them there. There is no wind there I told mom ..silly woman! Yes sure miss the kids and grands and the time they are home goes too fast. Tonight when mom was going to take a bath I got on top of my cage and wouldn’t come down. Yesterday mom, dad and skin sis all left and when they came back skin sis wasn’t with them! Here mom told me that she caught the plane and went home. Then dad took skin sis to meet her sister and they went hiking together. After that they went for a massage and out to eat together. Yes mom says I am like a dog and just want to greet everyone. Well mom got pasta salad made for the picnic today so far. Oh the trip to the airport wasnt as bad as the parronts thought it was going to be. The traffic was bad but it was in the other side on the other lanes. Mom got lots of crocheting done though LOL. She is about to start the easy parts again of just the shells and dont have to read the directions for that but takes forever to get it long enough. This one will definetly be the next 3 sizes she will make so the grands have them and will fit them even when they are older. Oh skin sis will go home Wednesday evening so the parronts will be making another trip to the airport again. Yesterday one of moms old friends stopped in with her grand. I get so excited and yell so loud when we get company. I guess I scared the little one though and mom put me in the carrier a while. Mom is thinking the stools she had to sit on for the eye tests made her muscles tighten up. They don’t have backs on them and first moms shoulders and neck were hurting and now her back feels like its ready to go out. Yesterday mom made cards with her friends and cousin at the store they met at. The cards were Christmas ones for the soldiers overseas. I am sure they will enjoy getting them. Yesterday mom went to the eye doctor and when she came home much much later she said she had 4 or 5 drops put in her eyes and she couldn’t see very good. Her eyes were very big like saucers LOL. We did get to meet Katie and she is a lovely girl and your lucky to have her in your household now too. There has been a crew working on our road out front. There is trucks, pavers and lots of other noisy equipment out there. I was curious so mom set my play gym in front of the door so I could watch out the storm door. Hi Smoky
Mom was running water in the kitchen and that set Chi chi off cause she wanted her bath bowl. Now that is all fine and dandy but when Chi chi gets her bath bowl then mom thinks I need mine too. I got the baptism kind and no choice if I wanted it or not either! Took me a long time to fix my feathers too and I could have been doing more fun things like climbing on Chi chis cage or something like that.
