Hi Everyone, I have some great news to share with you all. I was entered into my very first ever bird show by my birdsitter/bree- der. I was in the novice division for senegals. In two days I came away with a total of 6 ribbons. 4 first place ribbons, one 4th place and one 5th place ribbon. Could have won more but since my wings are clipped it held me back. When mom takes pics of me with my ribbons she is going to place them here on my page for all to see. She is so proud of me. Both my senegal parents were top show winning birds. Brother Maxi also won honorable mention for looking so good for his age of 15 3/4yrs.. ............. Met her at a bird fair. She took an instant liking to me and chose me as her new owner. I wasn't going to buy a bird but when she chose me, I just had to take her home. It was instant love!... ...HATCHDATE JAN 26, 2003..

...Sports Illustrated Swim Suit model is just a way to pickup some extra cash between bank jobs, not to worry, I only take it all off for Alfie, when I can get him away from aunt Denise long enough! I wish you all a great throw back Thursday, do me a favor, look through your old book of memories and select a pic to reflect on! It is fun to remember the past, you will be amazed at how things in your life have changed, mostly for the better! We like looking at many of the birds we have rescued and re-homed, but my favorite time is to review many of my old friends and relatives (dad's son, daughter, and grand kids), some are sadly no longer with us, but life goes on as we hang on to what we once had! Have a great day dear friends, and give my love to all in your humble home, see ya tomorrow...

  Hi Sweetpepper
It's cooler here today than it has been for a couple of days, only going into the mid 70s today. That's good pool weather though. Mom will spend the afternoon reading by the pool, then do some grocery shopping which is really needed at this point. (She only had 7 things to cut up into the boy's and Maxine's bowls today.) Later we will celebrate my hatchday with songs, special treats, and maybe a new toy. I hope I get my favorite popcorn nutriberries. ♫Happy Hatchday to me! ♫ Come on over for some cake and nutriberries later! Hugs, Falco

Come visit me, Gizmo, I miss you, sweet boy, Willie, Kaji, TiPaul, and Sky for 10k!, Peppino, In Divo's memory & Falco, I'm 15 today!.

SO YESTERDAY MOM WAS A GREASE SPOT WHEN SHE GOT HOME. TODAY SHE SAID IT WAS A BIT CHILLY OUT! NOW I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS UP WITH THE WEATHER, BUT IT WAS NICE AND SUNNY AND COMFY HERE, SO I ENJOYED FORAGING FOR MY TREATS AND WAITING FOR MOM TO COME HOME. AND BOY OH BOY, SHE BROUGHT HOME SOME FRESH SWEET CORN FOR ME! ONE OF THE LOCAL FARMER'S COME TO THE BUILDING SHE IS IN EVERY WEDNESDAY, AND THEY BRING IN GOOD STUFF FOR PEOPLE TO BUY. SHE BROUGHT TWO EARS OF CORN, AND MADE ONE OF THEM TODAY. I HAVE TO SAY I ATE ALMOST THE WHOLE THING! MOM HAD A PIECE ABOUT TWO INCHES LONG, AND I HAD THE REST. WOW. THAT WAS SOOOO GOOD! OF COURSE, I ONLY EAT THE LITTLE SEED THING IN THE CENTER, BUT MOM SAID SHE GOT A KICK OUT OF SEEING ME CHOW DOWN. I AM NOT A CHOW, SO I DON'T QUITE GET IT...

HOPE YOUR MOM IS FEELING LOTS MORE COMFORTABLE TODAY!

  Hi Sweetpepper
I was in the shade the little bit I was out yesterday under the porch but way too hot today so didnt get out though.
Today mom was making my lunch of beans/ rice mix which she adds egg, veggies all to it and what ever else she has on hand. I like hot peppers and red sweet ones too so mom puts them in it also. She always washes her hands good before and after wards cause of the hot peppers cause they do burn. Mom shut the door when I went in to eat then and ran out for the paper and mail. Mom gets her cousin/ neighbors too cause she had an operation and is recuperating . Well mom and her cousin was talking a bit and mom touched her eye and that old hot pepper was still hot so moms cousin gave her a wet paper towel to wipe it and was ok then. Good mom had washed her hands before that though. Mom has touched her lips and that happened before but the eye is lots worse LOL. ”Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward”. Leaving a vote for you!!   Hi Sweetpepper & Kacey
Hello everybirdie, Zeena here with today's special guests. I had a few problems getting them to settle down and then a few chewed their way out of the box, but finally I bribed them with a few Almonds. Today we pause briefly to visit a few very beautiful and interesting Cockatoo mutations. Cockatoos have been cross species bred for a number of years, giving rise to some odd and uncommon looking individuals. However, the birds we will stop to visit today are natural occurring mutations, some of which have been hatched in the wild. Ok, guys, climb down from there please, it's time to get a few photos.
Cockatoos are found in the wild in only a limited area of the world. They are found primarily in Australia, New Guinea, Indonesia, as well as surrounding areas in the South Pacific.

The cockatoo (of the family Cacatuidae) is one of the most well-known birds in the parrot family because it’s quite noisy; in fact, it’s the loudest of all the parrots. Their loudness comes from a history of having to communicate long distances with one another in dark, thick forests. Cockatoos are found in Australia and some surrounding islands, mainly in forested areas. These birds form flocks, with sometimes up to three different types of cockatoos, to feed together on berries, nuts and seeds. Most cockatoos even stay in the same flock they were raised in and often mate in long-lasting pairs.

Like all parrots, cockatoos are zygodactyl, which means they can use their feet to grasp objects, making them excellent climbers. Although parrots are often colorful, most cockatoos are actually black and white because they lack a certain texture in their feathers that reflects light. In the 1970s, many cockatoos were trapped for the pet trade and their numbers in the wild have decreased dramatically. In fact, some Indonesian cockatoos are now thought to be extinct in the wild. Others are quickly declining due to hunting, poisoning and illegal poaching. Looked upon as pests and nuisances they fight to maintain their territories with ever growing human invasion.

Cockatoos are gregarious, sensitive, demanding and classed as high-maintenance. They have a powerful beak they freely use to chew and tear woodwork and furnishing in homes if left unsupervised. Not a bird for most novices, those who have loved and been loved by one, will forever be a Cockatoo fan.

I hope you enjoy the photos of some of the wonderful mutations available today.

WELL, YOU ARE SIGNED UP FOR FACE PAINTING AND KACEY IS IN THE PIE EATING CONTEST. HOWEVER FACE PAINTING IS FULL NOW, AND SO IT WILL JUST BE YOU FOR THAT ONE. SEND ME YOU FAVORITE CLOSE UP FOR THE EVENT. YOUR FAVORITE OF THOSE GREYT ONES YOUR MOM HAS BEEN TAKING WITH LOTS OF FACE SHOWING AND I WILL FORWARD IT TO AUNTIE DENISE OR YOU CAN SEND IT DIRECTLY TO HER YOURSELF AND TELL HER WHAT IT IS FOR.

THE FAIR IS COMING RIGHT ALONG. WE ALREADY HAVE ALL OF OUR CONTESTANTS FOR THE PIE EATING CONTEST AND THE PIG RACES AS WELL AS THE FACE PAINTING. LOTS OF PARTICIPATION, AND FALCO HAS SUGGESTED SHE WOULD LIKE TO RUN A BOOTH. THIS WILL BE THE BIGGEST FAIR EVER. HOPEFULLY IT WON'T BE THE LAST ONE.

VERY HOT HERE TODAY. MOM COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY THE WEATHER.COM SITE KEPT SHOWING TEMPS IN THE 70s, WHEN IT WAS 80+ FOR THE PAST FEW WEEKS. TODAY SHE NOTICED THAT SOMEHOW IT GOT SET FOR MANHATTAN BEACH,CA WHICH IS RIGHT ON THE OCEAN AND ALWAYS 10-20 DEGREES COOLER. SO NOW MOM HAS TO RESET IT MANUALLY EVERY TIME SHE USES THE SITE. IT KEEPS DEFAULTING TO MANHATTAN BEACH. MOM DOESN'T EVEN KNOW ANYONE WHO LIVES THERE. WEIRD HUH? IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE UP TO OR NEAR TRIPLE DIGITS HERE TODAY, AND IT SURE FEELS LIKE IT. MOM AND I GOT OUT FOR MY SUNBATH AT 9 THIS MORNING, AND ANY LATER WOULD HAVE BEEN TOO HOT FOR SURE.

TOOK GLORIA TO THE CAR WASH TODAY, BUT THEY WERE CLOSED FOR REPAIRS. MOM DIDN'T MIND AT ALL, BECAUSE THEY GAVE HER A COUPON FOR A FREE EXTERIOR WASH WHICH IS ALL GLORIA NEEDS. HER INTERIOR IS SPOTLESS. SO MOM WILL GO BACK TOMORROW.

  Hi Sweetpepper
Your talons look so pretty with the tiger lilies painted on them. I like mine, too. Let's swim some laps today, okay?
Mom made a recommendation to readers in the BC Library (Cookie's page), if anyone likes thrillers/mysteries.
Dinner last night was good, the groupon was for a local Japanese restaurant, but not traditional Japanese, one of those places that puts on a show of cooking on the hibachi. It's called Saga, and the chef came out and cooked in front of mom and her sis. They shared a sushi roll for appetizers, and her sister had a tempura banana for dessert. Mom was much too stuffed to have any dessert, though. Plus, a fried banana didn't sound appealing.
Mom has her mammogram and bone density appointment today. There is a women's imaging center that does both at the same site, so that's where she'll go. They are predicting rain today, but if the walk with the dogs this morning is any indication, it will be another bright sunny day, so pool time again!
I hope you are having a bright sunshiney day with lots of hugs. Hugs from me too, Falco

WHOOOEEEE! IT WAS A TOASTY ONE OUT THERE TODAY--THANK HEAVENS THERE WAS A BREEZE. MOM SAID THAT IT WAS NOT BAD UNTIL SHE GOT OUT OF WORK, AND THEN THE HUMID AIR AND THE HEAT REALLY HIT HER. SHE SAYS THAT SHE REALLY WAS OKAY FOR MOST OF THE DAY, AND EVEN TOOK A WALK OUTSIDE AROUND NOON. NOT MANY SAILBOATS OUT THERE,SO FOLKS MUST HAVE BEEN AT WORK. BUT WOW, YOU SHOULD SEE HER NOW, WITH THAT WATER RUNNING DOWN HER NECK--AND WE HAVE THE AIR ON HERE (OKAY, SO IT IS SET AT 80 CUZ THAT IS A GOOD TEMPERATURE FOR ME). WE EVEN HAD RAIN FOR A BIT TONIGHT. GUESS TOMORROW WILL BE LESS HUMID, SO MOM IS ALL IN FAVOR OF THAT!

CHYNA SUGGESTED THAT MY MOM LOOK AT A BOAT STORE IF SHE WANTS A CHAIR WITH WOODEN ARMS. NOW MY MOM DOESN'T CARE ABOUT WOODEN ARMS ON THE CHAIR, BUT ISN'T THAT WHAT YOUR G-MA WAS ASKING FOR? DO THEY HAVE BOATING TYPE STORES ANYWHERE NEAR YOU? I AM NOT SURE HOW FAR JOLIET IS FROM THE GREAT LAKES.

I POSTED THE RIDERS FOR THE PIG RACES IN THE AUGUST COUNTY FAIR MILONGA. WE HAVE MORE THAN HALF OF LAST YEAR'S RIDERS RETURNING, AND SEVERAL NEW ONES. JENNY LYNN IS LETTING ZIGGY RIDE HAM BONE, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS VERY NICE OF HER. THERE ARE TWO SPOTS LEFT FOR FACE PAINTING. IF YOU WANT ONE (AND I THINK YOU LOOK LOVELY WITH A NICE FLOWER OR DESIGN PAINTED ON YOUR BEAUTIFUL FACE) YOU NEED TO RUSH ON OVER AND SIGN UP. AUNTIE DENISE WILL NEED A JPEG THAT IS FULL SIZE AND NOT BLURRY. WITH YOUR MOM'S GREYT NEW CAMERA AND SKILLS SHE SHOULD HAVE SEVERAL TO SEND HER.

DON'T FORGET THE JULY MILONGA IS THIS SATURDAY. IT WILL BE A SIMPLE ONE WHAT WITH ALL THE WORK WE ARE DOING FOR NEXT MONTH. JUST A BEACH PARTY AT THE LAKE WITH HOT DOGS AND BURGERS. I AM HOPING TO GET A LIMBO CONTEST GOING THOUGH.

Yes mom said it was too hot and humid for me to be out in the sun today though I was out on the porch while mom and dad worked on the mailbox that was only about 10 minutes if even that.
Well dad got the mailbox today but the one with the flag (to tell you that the mail man went) that mom wanted is no longer being made. Mom painted the names and number on the box and then helped dad get it on. Mom had me in the outside cage and I kept yelling real loud to the parronts and mom kept yelling back to me. It was very hot and humid today so I didn’t stay out long and tomorrow looks like rain so doubt I get out then either. ”Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward”.   Hi Sweetpepper & Kacey
Hello my dear friends. Thank you all for the lovely words of encouragement and your faithful daily votes. i hope you are enjoying viewing a few very rare and uncommon Parrots and birds. All the birds I have discussed are species that are kept in captivity. Some we will not see, or won't see available for a long time due to their rarity.
Today we will stop by to visit some very common friends, in some very interesting and striking colors. Momma Deb has raised many Green Cheeked Conures in her lifetime but none like those we will see today. Many are only available to breeders at this time due to their difficulty in reproducing their colors. I hope you will enjoy what you see.
Momma Deb and I tried to locate the current price of many of these beauties and have listed them here, just for your information sake--

American Dilutes--$2000.00 US a pair and up
American Dilutes yellow-sided---$ 3800 to 6000Us a pair
Red-Faced Yellow-sided----$2500 to 7000.US a pair
Sun Cheek -------$ 4500 to 8500US a pair
Moon Cheeks---$7000Us and up for good stock
Mint-----$5000 to 10,000US a pair
Turquoise---$500 US a pair and up
Cinnamon Turquoise---$750 US and up a pair
Recessive Pied-----$4000 to 8000US a pair and up
Red-Factored Pineapples--$300US and up per pair
Dilute Moon Cheeks---$7000US and up per pair

There are by far not all the new and shocking color mutations available but will give you a good idea of what has been hatching in Green Cheeked Conure nest boxes lately.

Habitat:
Seen in dense, low forests and woodlands. Also in moist, mossy cloud forest on E Andes where seen up to 2900m (9512 ft).

Threat Summary:
Probably declining in E Bolivia because of rapid forest clearance. They are found on CITES
Appendix II. There are flocks living in both Florida and California which can be seen in company of the wild Amazon Parrots.

I'll race you to the hot tub, then we can get our talons done today. I think I'll ask for lilies on mine.
It is a gorgeous day today! I think it's the best one of the week. Tomorrow we're supposed to get thunderstorms again. Usually by this time in July the grass is brown and dry, but everyone has green grass still. Mom has some grocery shopping to do, but it can wait. She needs to buy fresh fruits and veggies, but we have enough to tide us over for a few days. Today is definitely a pool day, and tonight mom and her sister will go to a Japanese restaurant for dinner. Mom bought a groupon a few weeks ago and wants to use it before it expires. Tonight will also be cage cleaning night, so we all have to be prepared to fix up our homes as soon as mom is done destroying them.
I hope you are having a bright and beautiful sunny day and getting lots of attention that you deserve. Hugs, Falco

I did get out side a bit today cause sometimes it was over cast and a little breeze but not as long as usual. Tomorrow is to be in the 90's so if that happens I wont get to get out and enjoy the sun then either.
I have been going to bed a bit earlier then I was before so guess the days are getting shorter mom says. Last night I just got on my perch to wait for mom to cover me for the night and the dog next door started to bark. If I wasn’t so tired I would of gotten up on that windowsill and barked back at him like I do in the day time when he is out. Finally he must of went in the house and I gave mom a kiss good night and she covered me for the night. ”Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward”. Leaving a vote for you!! I REALLY LIKE GOING TO THE PLACE WHERE YOU GET OUT OF THE CAR AND A BUNCH OF NICE FOLKS TAKE YOUR CAR AND CLEAN IT INSIDE AND OUT. OH YEAH, THE WEATHER CHANGES TOMORROW FOR US. HUMID AND RAINY BUT NOT UNTIL NIGHT TIME, SO GUESS MOM IS GONNA TURN INTO A LARGE GREASE SPOT BEFORE IT COOLS DOWN. AH WELL. SHE SAID IT WAS GORGEOUS TODAY--SUPER LAKE BREEZE, BUT YOU COULD SEE THE HAZE OVER THE LAKE SO SHE FIGURED IT WAS STARTING TO GET SUPER HUMID.

  HELLO LOVELY ONE
I HAD A NICE SUNBATH TODAY, BUT IT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE I WAS GOING TO GET ONE AT ALL. BEFORE MOM LEFT FOR THE GYM AT 10 FOR HER APPT WITH THE TRAINER FOLLOWED BY ZUMBA THE SKY WAS ALL CLOUDY AND IT WASN'T WARM ENOUGH. THEN WHILE MOM WAS "GYMMING" ALL THE CLOUDS BURNED OFF, AND MOM THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE TOO HOT OUT. HOEVER I MADE IT VERY CLEAR I WANTED TO GO OUTSIDE, SO MOM FIGURED WE COULD DO A QUICKIE. WE ONLY STAYED FOR 25 MINUTES, AND MOM TOOK FULL SHADE WHILE I HAD PARTIAL SHADE. THEN WHEN WE GOT BACK INSIDE I DECIDED TO STAY IN MY CARRIER AND PLAY WITH THE TOYS IN THERE. HARD TO BELIEVE I WAS AFRAID OF THAT THING NOT THAT LONG AGO!

I THINK G-MA BETTER GET USED TO DUCT TAPE ON HER CHAIR, BECAUSE I AM PRETTY SURE THEY DON'T MAKE CHAIRS LIKE THAT ANY MORE. SHE IS LUCKY TO HAVE IT. THE ONE MOM GOT IS ALL PLASTIC. IT WOULD NOT HOLD A HEAVY PERSON FOR LONG.

HOW WONDERFUL THAT THEY FOUND NEW MEDS FOR THE AUTISTIC NEPHEW. INTERESTING THAT HE IS THE ONLY ONE OF THE THREE CHILDREN WHO IS BEHAVED. COULD IT BE THAT HIS AWFUL MOM DOESN'T PAY ANY ATTENTION TO HIM BECAUSE HE IS "DIFFERENT", SO HE HASN'T BEEN SPOILED BY HER? YOUR POOR MOM'S BROTHER. WHAT A TERRIBLE LIFE HE IS STUCK IN.

MOM IS THINKING ABOUT BUYING A COVER FOR GLORIA TO PROTECT HER PAINT. THE GARAGE IS FULL OF DAD'S ROCK SAWING AND POLISHING MACHINES, SO THERE IS NO WAY SHE IS GOING IN THERE. MOM WILL SEE WHAT THERE IS TO OFFER ON AMAZON. GOING TO THE DEALER IS OUT OF THE QUESTION. EVERYTHING IS DOUBLE THE PRICE THERE!!

MOM IS MAKING CHICKEN GUMBO FOR DINNER. SHE AND DAD BOTH LIKE IT A LOT, BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY I LOVE THE STUFF! EXCEPT FOR THE OKRA, BUT THAT'S OK BECAUSE THAT MEANS MORE OF THAT FOR MOM. I STICK WITH THE ANDOUILLE SAUSAGE, CHICKEN AND RICE.

Hello everybirdie, Zeena here to start this week with one of the worlds most well known Parrots. Today we stop to visit the Senegal Parrots and their mutations. I wish to thank you all for your greyt support and daily votes in my quest to earn the Title of Bird of the Month for August.
Over the last 30 years as many as 3 million wild Senegal parrots have been removed from the wild – 811,408 CITES Export permits have been issued since 1975. Unregulated trade in African parrots peaked in the 1980s and ’90s, and still exists today. This lucrative black market industry is fueled by profiteering middlemen who exploit wild bird populations. In 2005, the Senegal parrot was the most traded bird on the CITES Appendix II, with an average of over 45,000 individuals being removed from the wild each year. Today, African parrots remain among the most traded species on earth.
The Poicephalus parrots, including Senegals, Red-bellied and Myers etc are among the hardiest parrots on earth being able to survive in the harsh, African subtropics. All of their ranges are under serious pressure from the booming charcoal industry, out-of-control commercial logging , burning by local people for pastures and agriculture, as well as climate change. Deforestation rates on the continent are now twice that of the rest of the world. Africa has lost one half of its old-growth forests and forest restoration has become absolutely essential to save endemic forest bird species.
Long-lived forest specialists like Senegal parrots and rose-ringed parakeets are particularly sensitive to forest degradation. The added pressure of the wild-caught bird trade is often catastrophic, resulting in local extinctions in many Africa countries. Meyer’s parrots have all but disappeared from South Africa, African grey parrots are no longer seen in Kenya or Tanzania, Ruppell’s parrot and the brown-headed parrot have disappeared from much of their ranges in Namibia and Mozambique respectively, and the Cape parrot is only found in small forest refuges in the high mountains. Anyone who has traveled by road in Africa will tell you that every time you are in or near a forest you will start seeing parrots in cages or with their feet tied up on the roadside. Africa is exporting its parrots, its wildlife, its birdlife, its natural heritage,at alarming rates.
The Senegal Parrot is now extinct in many of it's ranges. The only way to stop this trade in wild-caught Parrots is to refuse to purchase birds that are not born in captivity.
Many devoted Senegal breeders have been working with a few unique mutations that have appeared in nestboxes starting in the early 1990's. These rare and beautiful mutations are still expensive and normally available only to other breeders, they include the yellow, pied, opaline, dilute and cinnamon. Regardless of color Senegal Parrots will remain one of the most common family pet birds kept the world over.

Just a quick note today to let you know we're thinking of you. Mom cleaned the skunks, foxes, groundhogs, and coyotes today, all outdoors, and very muggy, so she was happy to get to the pool. We need her tonight, though, so we're making her hurry up with our blogs. Hope you are having a wonderful summer day with lots of love coming your way. Hugs, Falco

Moths are among the most diverse and successful organisms on earth. In fact, scientists estimate there are more than 150,000 moth species worldwide! Move over butterflies, moths come in bright colors and dazzling patterns. Species can take a myriad of shapes and can be as small as a pinhead to as large as an adult’s hand.
here are five awesome (and often little-known) facts about these winged wonders.
1. Some moths don’t have mouths. For example, the beautiful Luna moth does not have a mouth — so cannot eat — and will live only for about one week, with the singular purpose of mating!
Luna moth
2. Moths are great impersonators. Many moths have evolved to imitate other animals as a way to deter would-be predators. The Polyphemus moth has bold eyespots to startle and confuse those looking for a moth snack. The hornet moth looks just like a hornet, but is completely harmless. The beautiful wood nymph, a moth that has evolved to look just like bird poop.
Wood nymph
3. Moths love a good microbrew. Interested in trying your hand at mothing? Nothing attracts these guys like beer. A tip from our scientists: Mix a paste of beer, brown sugar, and banana. Paint it on some trees, kick back and relax, then check back in the evening with your flashlight to see the multitude of moths you’re sure to attract.
Attracting moths... with beer!
4. Moths can turn bears into tigers. We’re all familiar with wooly bear caterpillars — but did you know this bear can turn into a tiger? Yep, the wooly bear emerges from his cocoon in the spring as a lovely Isabella tiger moth. Fun fact: Once a cocoon is spun, the caterpillar turns into a mushy soup during metamorphosis before emerging as a moth.
Moth metamorphosis
5. The death’s-head hawk moth has a serious claim to fame. He got his start in Bram Stoker’s Dracula, then went on to leading roles in both The Silence of the Lambs and The Mothman Prophecies. This famous moth gets its name from the scull-shaped pattern on the thorax, and has the unusual ability to emit loud squeaks when irritated.

I think they said that we will have 3 more days of 80's and then down to 70's.
I'm ready for the spa in the morning.
We had another beautiful day here up north. My parronts went to watch another polo game and I took a nap. Sounds like mom and I will have lunch on the patio tomorrow. I'm getting used to this and liking it!

  Hi Sweetpepper
Hope you got outside today again. I have been pretty lucky and get outside most days lately. With the rain yesterday I didnt get out though.
Yesterday I should have been onto it but wasn’t. Mom did our blogs early and cleaned my cage early too. Figured it was raining so she would stay home all day and night with me. In the evening mom and dad went to the trail to help with a moonlight race as they call it cause when it gets dusk the race starts. It was dark most of the day with the rain we had though. There are candles lit the whole way up the trail where the race is held and usually the moon is bright too though some people do use some type of lights too. Mom said it was a bit muddy since we had rain all day. By the time they got back home I just wanted covered for the night and mom did that and I was fast asleep then. “All you need in life is a friend who has millet” Leaving a vote for you …your forever friend.   Hi Sweetpepper & Kacey
Hi everyone, Zeena, here with your Sunday BOTM POST. I want to take a moment to thank you all for all your support and votes during this month's BOTM campaign. Today, we will visit with some unique and usual Budgie mutations. Known by many names, Parakeet, Budgie, and officially Budgerigars. these fun-loving, friendly members of the avian family are loved the world over.

Feather Dusters
Feather Dusters are a rare mutation produced solely at random, mostly among English Budgies. These birds are huge compared to other budgies and have abnormally growing, very long feathers. As the name implies they do look rather like the feather dusters used for dusting furniture. They must eat constantly to try and supply their bodies with the nutrients they need because of the heavy demand put on them by the constant feather growth. They generally don't live more than a few months, cannot fly, and are usually blind. They are also thought to be deaf and may even be afflicted with what is known in humans as Down's Syndrome.

Half Siders

Half-Siders a randomly occurring rare mutation in which the bird is split right down the middle with each half representing a different color or variety. One side may be blue and one half green, one half normal and the other half pied, etc. When one of these is at a show, you can tell exactly where it is in the room because of all of the people standing in front of the cage doing double takes. As they say, you have to see it to believe it. Quarter-Siders, in which only one quarter of the body is affected, also occur.

CRESTED

In this variety, the feathers on top of the budgie's head point awry, forming a crest.
There are three types of crested budgies: full-circular crest, half-circular crest and the tufted crest.
Crested Budgies are both a random occurring mutation, and one for which breeders can breed to produce them. They are relatively rare and sell for upwards of $100US each and more depending on crest.
Helicopter Budgies

These unusual Budgies are bred to produce long, silkie feathers at the shoulder and upper wing margins. The more complete the covering the higher the quality and price. They are especially popular in Japan and Asia where pairs can sell for up to $55,000US

  MY DARLING WIFEBIRD
MOM AND I HAVE TALKED IT OVER, AND WE BOTH AGREE. YOUR MOM'S BROTHER SHOULD SNEAK OUT OF HIS HOUSE TAKING THE OLDEST SON AND RUN AWAY. LET HIS AWFUL WIFE HAVE HER DIRTY, EXPENSIVE HOUSE AND HER NASTY TWO SONS AND SHE CAN LIVE IN HER OWN FILTH. TELL HIM WE WILL NEVER LET ANYBIRDY OR ANYONE KNOW WHERE HE IS. TOTAL SECRET. SOUND LIKE A PLAN?

WE ARE ALL SET FOR THIS MONTH'S MILONGA ON THE 26TH, BUT IT IS GOING TO BE A SIMPLE ON AT THE LAKE WITH WATER FUN AND LOTS OF SUN. THAT'S BECAUSE AUGUST 30TH WILL BE THE ANNUAL COUNTY FAIR MILONGA, AND IT IS SO MUCH WORK WE NEED TO START NOW. AUNTIE DENISE AND RANEBEAU WILL BE HELPING, AND THE PIG RACES, PIE EATING CONTEST, BOOTHS AND PROBABLY FACE PAINTING (I HAD FORGOTTEN ABOUT IT UNTIL REMINDED) WILL ALL BE HELD. MANY OF LAST YEAR'S RIDERS WILL BE RETURNING WITH THEIR PIGS, AND WE ALREADY HAVE TWO NEW RIDERS: WILLIE AND CHIPPER.

MOM AND DAD WENT TO WALLY WORLD TO PICK UP THEIR SUPPLEMENTS AND TRY TO BUY A NEW LAWN CHAIR FOR MOM BEFORE THE OLD ONE BREAKS THRU COMPLETELY. (YES, WE MADE IT THRU THIS MORNING'S SUN BATH WITHOUT INCIDENT.) WELL, ALL WW HAD WERE THE BEACH CHAIRS THAT SIT ABOUT SIX INCHES OFF THE GROUND, AND MOM WOULD HAVE A TERRIBLE TIME GETTING IN AND OUT OF ONE OF THOSE. SO THEY TRIED HOME DEPOT AND NOTHING. LAST STOP WAS TARGET, AND MOM WAS ABOUT TO GIVE UP BECAUSE THE STORE SMELLED AWFUL. DAD SAID IT WAS SOME KIND OF DISINFECTANT BECAUSE IT MADE HIM THINK OF THE HOSPITAL. MOM JUST HATED IT. ANYWAY DAD IS SO GOOD AT FINDING THINGS, HE TRACKED THE CHAIR DOWN AND THEY EVEN HAD THE GREEN COLOR MOM WANTED. SHE PUTS THE CHAIR BEHIND THE BUSHES BETWEEN USES, AND NOW IT WON'T STICK OUT LIKE A SORE THUMB. THE OLD CHAIR WAS ORANGE AND RED!

SO TOMORROW'S SUN BATH SHOULD BE COMFY, AND I AM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. GREEN IS MY FAVORITE COLOR AFTER ALL!

  Hi Sweetpepper
I bet you had a nice time outside. We haven't been out in days!
Yesterday at the birthday party it rained all afternoon. They have a large garage though, and set up picnic tables indoors for everyone. The children played in the rain, of course. They found a cute little brown toad and showed it to everyone. Most of the women were grossed out. Mom thinks they were surprised when she picked it up after it hopped off Ryan's hand. She was a science teacher, though, so she has handled lots of animals. She made sure they put it back where they found it, too.
Mom's niece's husband took mom's sister's old bed and made a bench from it. It's an antique bed, about 100 years old, but was really starting to show its age, so mom's sis bought a new one and gave the old one to Rich. He did a great job! The headboard is the back of the bench, the footboard is the sides (armrests), and the sideboards are the front. What a clever reuse of something old.
Today is either laundry, pool, or both, as well as our cage cleanings. Hope you are having a good day with sunshine and love. Hugs, Falco

Morning SweetWater my dear, from Jenny
Good Sunday morning dear friend, the bird club meeting went very well last night! Our dear aunt Teresa called us yesterday afternoon, to tell us Cheeta and Casaur are recovering nicely, at least as good as can be expected! Dad was given permission to relay the news to our friends, and while Ceasaur had developed an infection, it is treatable with antibiotics, and Cheeta has only slowed down a little with her damaged wing, she has that indomitable spirit of all Caiques, Cindy knows what I mean! It has finally been decided that Limon will be our bird, and we couldn't be any more pleased! Have a great Sunday dear friends, and give my love to all in your home, see ya tomorrow...

Glad to hear that mom is feeling much better. I hope the tooth stay good for a long time.
Things are getting back to normal today.
I'm back on the BC. My parronts had a nice time at dad's family re-union. Saturday they went to Art in the Park then came home and had lunch with me. Tonight, we watched RIO2 and I sat on mom's lap and stared at the TV. It was a nice sunny warm day. Sunday they will go to see a polo match and maybe we'll have dinner on the patio, I hope so.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

OH, IT WAS SATURDAY TODAY--AND I MADE SURE MOM KNEW THAT I WAS NOT LETTING HER OUT OF MY SIGHT CUZ WE HAD THIS TRIP TO THE FARMER'S MARKET TO DO. I SURE DO LOVE GOING THERE! AND I SAW MY FRIEND PAULA AND HER NEPHEW, AND I FLIRTED WITH HER LOTS. SO MANY PEOPLE STOPPED TO SEE ME AND SAY HOW HANDSOME I AM (WELL DUH, OF COURSE!!) AND I REALLY ENJOYED THE TRIP. MOM GOT SOME CORN ON THE COB AND MADE IT FOR ME. I SURE DID ENJOY THAT, BUT IT WILL BE BETTER NEXT WEEK. IT IS STILL A BIT GREEN BUT MOM SAID THAT SHE COULDN'T RESIST IT. THEN AFTER WE WENT TO THE FARMER'S MARKET, WE WENT TO THE CAR WASH AND GOT THE CAR CLEANED. MOM WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THAT THE VACUUM AT THE PLACE COSTS $1 FOR 5 MINUTES! WOW. IN QUARTERS. SO SINCE MOM DID NOT HAVE QUARTERS, SHE PASSED ON THE VACUUM. SO I HAD A GRAND DAY!

  MY BEAUTIFUL WIFEBIRD
THOSE NEPHEWS CAN JUST STAY AWAY FROM YOUR MOM FOREVER. THE POOR AUTISTIC ONE PROBABLY IS PICKED ON CONTINUALLY, AND NOW MOM AND I ARE WORRIED ABOUT HIM. IS THEIR FATHER ANY BETTER OF A PARENT THAN THEIR MOM? THE WHOLE SITUATION SOUNDS JUST AWFUL. AN APOLOGY WOULD BE POINTLESS. THEY NEED A GOOD SCARE LIKE GOING TO A POLICE STATION FOR A FEW HOURS!

WELL, MOM AND DAD WENT TO THE GROCERY STORE IN GLORIA THIS MORNING, AND MOM IS BACK TO PARKING FARTHER AWAY FROM THE STORE SO NO ONE IS NEXT TO HER. DAD LAUGHED AND SAID HE THOUGHT SHE WOULD DO THAT. OF COURSE SHE DID. GLORIA IS BEAUTIFUL AGAIN AND NEEDS TO BE PROTECTED. MOM TOOK PICS TODAY, BUT THEN NEITHER SHE NOR DAD COULD FIND THE USB CABLE TO DOWNLOAD THEM TO THE COMPUTER. MOM ORDERED A NEW ONE FROM AMAZON, SO IT SHOULD BE HERE SOME TIME NEXT WEEK.

I DID GET A NIC3E SUNBATH THIS MRONING. IT IS NOT AS HOT AS THEY SAID IT WAS GOING TO BE. THEY WERE FORECASTING 90s, BUT IT IS ONLY ABOUT MID 80s. A BIT HUMID FOR US, BUT YOU WOULD PROBABLY THINK IT WAS QUITE DRY. WE ARE SO SPOILED!!!

I WAS MIKEY'S VOTE #9700 TODAY. I LOVE BEING A MILESTONE VOTE. IT WON'T BE LONG NOW, AND WE WILL HAVE TO HAVE A BIG PARTY ON THE HOF PAGE.

Well most people at the yard sale either wanted to buy me or my cage which is Chi chi old one that I use just when I am outside cause I have my own in the house. Mom would tell them neither was for sale though LOL. Oh we know some family issues take a while to figure out and sure know what you mean as we get them here too just like everyone else does too.
Mom keeps telling dad she wants a mailbox like the guy next door has. When the mail man puts mail in your box this yellow flag goes up and you can see it from the house. This way you know if you got mail and if the mailman has went and not have to cross the busy highway if it isn’t there. Well when mom got the mail yesterday the lid came off in her hands and mom stuck it on but sure wont stay. Mom told dad to watch for the lid ending up inside the mail box one of these days LOL. Wonder if dad thinks now mom needs on them mailboxes like the guy next door has??? “All you need in life is a friend who has millet” Leaving a vote for you …your forever friend. Gus (RIP Chi chi)

It's raining here, pretty hard, but it's supposed to end by midday. Mom is going to another birthday for yet another grand nephew today. He is getting to be a big boy now, 8 years old. She thinks she'll give him cash, as it is hard to buy for kids who have a lot of stuff. The party is this afternoon, so no pool today. That's okay, though, we don't care, we'll still get mom when she gets home, no matter where she is. I hope you are having a fun day with lots of scritches and sunshine. Hugs, Falco
