Hi Everyone, I have some great news to share with you all. I was entered into my very first ever bird show by my birdsitter/bree- der. I was in the novice division for senegals. In two days I came away with a total of 6 ribbons. 4 first place ribbons, one 4th place and one 5th place ribbon. Could have won more but since my wings are clipped it held me back. When mom takes pics of me with my ribbons she is going to place them here on my page for all to see. She is so proud of me. Both my senegal parents were top show winning birds. Brother Maxi also won honorable mention for looking so good for his age of 15 3/4yrs.. ............. Met her at a bird fair. She took an instant liking to me and chose me as her new owner. I wasn't going to buy a bird but when she chose me, I just had to take her home. It was instant love!... ...HATCHDATE JAN 26, 2003..

  Hi Sweetpepper
Chipper's mom is so sweet. Mom met her at Parrot Palooza, she's a doll. Mom put bacitraycin on the injury.
The pool opens today, and it will be 66 at noon when the doors open, so mom is thinking of going up there a little later on, maybe 1 or 2. She slept in this morning, so got a late start with feeding us and walking the dogs, so that's her excuse. The sun is beautiful today, we think it will warm up quickly. We had a frost warning last night, but mom didn't cover anything and it was okay, there was no frost here.
I hope you are enjoying the start of the long weekend, and planning some fun in the sun. Get lots of cuddles and scritches, too. Hugs, Falco

Nice pic!
We still have the heat on! It does seem like we have a few more weeks at least of cold weather. This week won't be nice either.
Looks like it will slowly warm up on Saturday to 60. But, we'll have rain from Sunday thru Thursday with t-storms on Monday. I hope tonight is the last frost night. I need some patio time soon!

OH WHAT A FABULOUS PICTURE! YOUR MOM SURE IS GREAT WITH GETTING COOL PIX OF YOU, AND THIS ONE IS JUST WONDERFUL!

IT WAS KINDA COOL HERE TODAY--ONLY GOT TO 60. MOM DID HER BEDROOM, AND THAT MEANT THE SUCKING MACHINE WAS OUT MAKING NOISE. MOM WAS MOVING THE FURNITURE AND DUSTING, TOO, AND SHE DID ALL THE BEDDING SO SHE COULD BRING OUT THE LIGHTER QUILT. I HOLLERED AT HER LOTS, CUZ I CAN TELL YOU, I DID NOT LIKE HER BEING IN THE BEDROOM FOR THAT LONG. SHE IS GLAD SHE GOT THAT DONE. NOW IT WILL BE ALL THE WINDOWS, AND THE TWO PATIO DOORS, BUT SINCE WE ARE HAVING RAIN FROM SUNDAY THRU THURSDAY, SHE WILL WAIT TO DO THOSE.

TOMORROW IS MY BIRDTHDAY! I AM GONNA BE 25 YEARS WITH MOM. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT HAS BEEN THAT LONG? MOM SAYS SHE WILL GET ME SOME GOODIES FOR MY BIG DAY TOMORROW. I KNOW SHE BOUGHT ME A NEW BAG FOR THE PANTRY DOOR--THE ONE I HAVE IS BEYOND SAVING, ACCORDING TO HER. I HAVE CHEWED IT UP REALLY GOOD, SO SHE HAD BEEN SEARCHING FOR ONE FOR AWHILE. THIS ONE LOOKS PRETTY AWESOME AND I CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY BEAK ON IT.

HAVE A GREAT REST OF THE NIGHT, AND WILL CYA TOMORROW!

  Hello SweetPepper~
I hope you had a great day too! It got cloudy and cooler here today so I don't think anyone is missing the pool. They painted it today and then put the lights and the filter covers back on. It is now ready for water when it dries.
Mom has to drive Jennifer down to her dads house tomorrow. The doctors have been checking him ever since he has the heart attack and found he has a leaky heart valve. He is going to have to have surgery to fix it and Jennifer is worried. Mom thinks it will be okay since they do so many of those kinds of surgeries. They haven't scheduled it yet but we keep him in our prayers everyday.
Mom went over to Costco today and it was very crowded. They had all the registers open so it really didn't take long to get out of there. She brought back some lovely blueberry muffins and Mandy, Merlin and I shared one! Yes, the cat likes blueberry muffins!
I just love all your memorial day pictures! You look so beautiful!!
I hope your evening is just wonderful! Leaving a vote and a big hug!

  Hi Sweetpepper & Kacey
Happy, healthy Friday to everybirdie. It's looking to be a great long-weekend for all my BC friends in the US. I am very delighted by the responses you are sharing with us. I hope everybirdie takes the time to read them too. There is a lot to consider when it comes to sharing your home with a Companion Parrot. When my Momma Deb started with birds, there was so little written about them it was a hit or miss situation when it came to care, housing and health. Today, with the internet at our finger tips, and countless books on various species, self-educating is a joyous and necessary component to be availed by all. We never know it all, and learning is a life time effort. Everyday with a Companion Parrot offers opportunities to observe or learn something new and valuable.
Many of us wish to adopt a new fid into our homes, hearts and flocks but there are so many considerations beyond species to work through. I must say this topic was brought to me by our dear friend Eva Kline of the famed K K Koral. It is something we need to look at when thinking of the addition of a brand new flock member in an established flock. That is the dreaded "quarantine" .
It would be the very rare home that can provide us with "IDEAL" conditions to quarantine an incoming bird. So with this knowledge what can we do? and what is not ok to do? To correctly quarantine a new Parrot you need a room, that is supplied with it's own source of air, preferably filtered intake and exhaust. Many Avian diseases are air-borne. Simply separating a new Parrot from the flock within the same household does not prevent contamination and disease spread through the air, air vents and whenever the door is opened to care for the new comer. The false belief that changing your clothing, shoes etc after caring for the new comer WILL NOT prevent the spread of disease.
By definition all quarantine of Avians is to be done in a building separate from ALL other birds in a flock. It must have it's own air filtration system to prevent spread of airborne disease particles and be tended by someone who does not come into contact with other Parrots during the quarantine period. Separation of the flock and new comer by floors within the same home is not considered fully quarantined. Although changing clothes, shoes and showering before entering and after being in contact with the new fid will work greatly to help stop cross infection.
The recommended method of quarantine suggests that all incoming new flock members have TWO sets of blood testing done at intervals advised by your Veterinarian to screen for Avian diseases. However, unless the Parrot is shedding a virus, a false negative can occur.
NOW FOR TODAY'S QUESTION: what other suggestion do you have for bringing home that new flock member?

Come visit me, SKY, Little Angel, jesse & SWEETIE, Let's talk Parrot for May's BOTM.

  Hi Sweetpepper
Its cool here too but no rain but could get frost tonight. Mom pushed the plants back further on the porch and covered them somewhat. Dad put buckets over his three tomato plants. Skin sis hubby planted the garden so he has lots to cover tonight!
The good thing is mom got to meet up with her sister finally today. Yep this is the first time they were able to get together since moms sister got back about 2 weeks ago for the summer from Arizona. Looks like this might be the last summer they will be here for the whole summer so that is the sad part if they don’t get to see each other every summer like they have the last 15 years. The sad part was mom was gone for the day and dad was in and out but you know how dads are…sure not like moms so I was very happy when mom got back home. Now we are trying to get the blogs done. “Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end, They simply mean I’ll miss you until we meet again.“ Goodbye from Gus (RIP Chi chi)

  MY CHILLY WIFEBIRD
WELL, OUR TEMPS ARE ABOUT THE SAME, SO I AM CHILLY TOO! NO SUNBATH AGAIN TODAY, BUT THERE IS A PRETTY GOOD CHANCE THE WARM UP WILL START TOMORROW. I AM HOPING TO GET OUTSIDE AFTER MOM AND DAD GET DONE WITH THE GROCERY SHOPPING.

AND ALTHOUGH I DID LOSE MY MOM TO THE GYM THIS MORNING, SHE DID COME IN AND SIT WITH ME AS SOON AS SHE GOT HOME. OF COURSE, THERE IS THE LITTLE FACT THAT SHE NEEDS TO GET MY ROOM NICE AND TOASTY WARM SO SHE CAN TURN OFF MY HEATER, SINCE THE ONE IN THE BATHROOM IS ON THE SAME CIRCUIT. CAN'T RUN THEM BOTH AT THE SAME TIME, BUT MOM WILL NEVER ADMIT THAT IS HER REAL REASON.

AND WITH THE THREE DAY WEEKEND I WILL HAVE TO PUT UP WITH DAD FOR AN EGGSTRA DAY. HE DOES HOLD OPEN THE SCREEN DOOR FOR ME TO COME IN FROM MY SUNBATH THOUGH, AND MONDAY IS SUNNY ENOUGH FOR SURE. WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE UP TO 80 BY THIS TIME NEXT WEEK.

IS THERE ANY WAY YOUR MOM CAN GET A DIFFERENT TRAINER? HERS SOUNDS JUST TERRIBLE. BECKY GIVES MY MOM A SUPER WORK OUT EVERY TIME, AND SHE TAILORS IT TO THE ZUMBA CLASS MOM WILL TAKE AFTERWARDS. I REALIZE BECKY IS THE BEST OF THE BEST, BUT YOUR MOM'S GUY SOUNDS LIKE THE WORST!

  Hi Sweetpepper
Wow, you have 3 nice pics for Memorial day! Bet it was hard to pick one for the main one.
Mom has a booboo on her leg that she didn't even know happened. Yesterday when she left the museum, the car door slammed into her shin (because she's clumsy sometimes) and it hurt, but mom didn't think anything of it. Last night when she was getting ready for bed, she saw that she had bled on her khaki pants! There was a huge wound on her leg as well. It doesn't hurt, but it will take awhile to heal.
Today mom worked in the avian nursery, and she had the 20 minute timer as well. Every 20 minutes she had to feed the smallest babies in the incubator, and of course, clean their nests and paper underneath, too, because what's going in one end seems to push out what's at the other end. She managed, between 20 and 45 minute feedings, to clean only 6 other cages. The avian nursery is pretty full right now, with robins, sparrows, starlings, mourning doves, pigeons, a cedar waxwing, a woodpecker, a little screech owl, crows, etc. The 6b ducklings in one of the cages got a fake mom today. Mom found the decoys they use for moms, and popped one in there on the heating pad. The babies will gather round it for comfort once it heats up a little.
After the center, she went shopping for fruits and veggies for us. Now she's home, and after doing our blogs, will plant the strawberry, gooseberry, and peppers that our neighbor left for us. We are under a frost advisory for tonight, so mom will have to look for some sheets for the tender stuff she is planting today. Everything else should be okay.
I hope you are having a great day and getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

I love the cookout idea with family and friends, dad has been invited to several different friends homes, but he told them all he has already made plans to spend the day with the things he loves most, namely us birds! I don't think he will be visiting our family grave sites this year, but not for lack of want to, rather for a lack of strength! TGIF dear friends, let's all make this weekend count, let's fill it with happiness and love, and spread it around, our world needs more of both!   HEYA, SWEETPEPPER!
YOUR MOM WON'T GET THE EXTRA PENALTY ON HER MONEY IF SHE DOESN'T TOUCH IT UNTIL AFTER SHE TURNS 59.5. THEN IT IS TAXABLE AT NORMAL TAX RATES. BUT IF YOU TOUCH IT BEFORE 59 AND A HALF, YOU GET SLAPPED WITH A 10% PENALTY. THAT IS WHAT MOST IRA'S AND 401K'S RULES ARE. SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE 65. JUST WAIT UNTIL AGE 60. UNLESS THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE PREVENTING IT, THAT IS.

YEAH, MOM IS HAPPY ABOUT MAYBE BEING ABLE TO RETIRE, AS THAT WOULD BE A RELIEF FROM STRUGGLING TO FIND A JOB. SHE IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE A PHONE INTERVIEW WITH A BANK (PROJECT WORKS ON STUFF FOR ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING) AND SHE THINKS IT WOULD BE A GOOD WAY TO GET INTO THE FINANCIAL AREA. BUT SHE HASN'T HEARD WHEN YET. WITH THE HOLIDAY COMING UP, SHE GUESSES IT WILL BE SOMETIME NEXT WEEK.

NICE HERE TODAY, WITH TEMP OF 66 AND A NICE BREEZE. IT WAS COLD THIS MORNING THOUGH WHEN SHE WENT TO THE DENTIST. SHE WAS SURPRISED TO GET 3 PINS PUT IN. BUT HEY, ANYTHING TO KEEP THE TOOTH IN PLACE TO BUY SOME TIME BEFORE THE IMPLANT WORK IS DONE. SHE IS GOING TO HAVE TO CHECK OUT THE OTHER DENTAL OFFICE, AS THAT IS SUCH A BIG DIFFERENCE IN PRICING. AND IT IS CLOSE TO HOME SO THAT IS EVEN BETTER, AS ONCE THEY PUT THE POST IN, YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOMEONE DRIVE YOU HOME. HER OTHER DENTIST IS WAY ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN. SO GRANDPA COULD COME TO PICK HER UP. WILL KEEP YOU POSTED ON HER SECOND OPINION FROM THEM.

I hope you had a great day. Mine was pretty good. Mom was busy with chores and spent some time looking for recipes for veggies. She found some really great ones so it as time well spent.
The pool is still empty. The lights from the bottom are sitting along side it. They plastered it so I think now they have to smooth it out again and then paint it blue again. It was warm here today so I think everyone is anxious for that pool to be open!

Well its still cold here so I didn’t get out to enjoy a sunbath. It was very cloudy too and even had rain this morning and later towards evening too. I got up on the windowsill and yelled at the wild birds a bit today but they are so busy getting food they didn’t pay any attention anyway. “Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end, They simply mean I’ll miss you until we meet again.“ Goodbye from Gus (RIP Chi chi)

  MY ATHLETIC DARLING
MY MOM TOTALLY AGREES ABOUT NOAH. HE WAS VERY HANDSOME, BUT THERE WERE TIMES WHEN HE WAS AWKWARD, AND ALTHOUGH IT WAS UNDERSTANDABLE THAT IS NOT SUPPOSED TO COUNT. MOM THOUGHT EITHER NASTIA OR WILLOW SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FINALS. SHE VOTED FOR NOAH A COUPLE OF TIMES IN THE BEGINNING, BUT STOPPED ABOUT HALFWAY THRU. THAT IS ABOUT HOW FAR SHE THOUGHT HE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN. HOPEFULLY HE WAS AN ISPIRATION FOR OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE SUFFERED AMPUTATIONS THOUGH. AND MOM DID ENJOY THAT SHORT DANCE HE DID WITH AMY PURDY; NOW THAT WAS INSPIRATIONAL!

DID NOT GET OUT FOR A SUNBATH TODAY, SINCE OUR HIGH WAS ONLY 67 AND TOTALLY OVERCAST. DEFINITELY NOT WARM ENOUGH, AND IN FACT MOM HAS HAD MY HEATER ON IN MY ROOM SET AT 71. IT ISN'T RUNNING ALL THAT OFTEN, BUT IT DOES DROP DOWN AND FIRE UP EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE.

WELL, I DID GET THE EXTRA MOM TIME LAST NIGHT, BECAUSE THE ZUMBA SUB FOR JOLENE WAS THE WORST ONE IN THE SYSTEM. MOM SAW HER NAME AND LET BECKY KNOW SHE WOULD BE LEAVING RIGHT AFTER TRAINING. UNFORTUNATELY FOR MOM THAT MEANT BECKY SWITCHED UP TO A HARDER SESSION, BUT SHE MADE IT A GOOD ONE. MOM WAS GOOD AND SWEATY AT THE END OF THE HOUR, SO SHE DIDN'T MIND MISSING ZUMBA SO MUCH. NONE OF HER FRIENDS STAYED EITHER. IT WAS A VERY SKIMPY CLASS.

MOM HAD HER ARTHRITIS MASSAGE TODAY, BUT OTHER THAN THAT I HAVE HER ALL TO MYSELF. SHE IS READING A NEW BOOK ON HER KINDLE WHICH IS A GOOD ONE, SO I AM HAVING A GOOD TIME READING IT OVER HER SHOULDER. LOTS OF HEAD SKRITCHES GOING ON AS WELL.

  Hi Sweetpepper
When mom was teaching and they took a field trip to the museum, she used to make up little scavenger hunts for her class, and that's what the museum quests remind her of. The kids like it, and it focuses them on learning instead of running around.
It's really cold again today, high of 56, but we don't think it's anywhere near there yet. Mom took lots of flower pics, so will post them on all 3 pages. There are 19 or so new pics. It's a good thing she took the azalea pics yesterday, because it rained overnight and with the cool weather and rain, many of the flowers have dropped off the bushes already.
Today mom had 2 tours, both from the same school district, and both in Dinosaurs. The kids were 4th graders, which is the grade mom likes best. So her time at the museum was lots of fun this morning. Later we will get our cages cleaned, and mom will go to dinner with Aunt Renee. Aunt Renee is leaving next week to go to Texas and celebrate her namesake's 90th birthday. Mom will have a card ready for her to take to Aunt Lorene when she goes.
Not much new, enjoy the flowers! Hope you are having a good day with sunshine, cuddles, and scritches. Hugs, Falco

  Hi Sweetpepper & Kacey
Hello everybirdie, Sweetie here this cool, but sunny Thursday. I apologize for not getting this blog out to you yesterday but we care having serious problems with BC right now.
It is definitely a good sign that so many have made long-term arrangements for us fids. It is something humans don't like to think about, death and being away from us, but since so many of us are very long-lived it is vital we all are provided for. A recent incident set this fact out from all othrs when one of our own BC friends was rushed to the hospital unconscious. There was talk prior to this eventful day about having contact numbers but the other person delayed to provide them. When the situation happened there was no one to call to care for the two fids left int he apartment alone. This could have been all avoided with proper per-planning.
At the very least everyone should take the time to list all their fids in a notebook. Including their ages, sexes, and every important fact about each one including foods, care facts and anything else that would matter should we be unable to provide for them. This notebook should be placed in a safe location; easily found by someone in a stressful situation. Tell family, friends etc where to find the book, or if you have a "care-provider" designated make certain they are aware of it and where to find the notes. Have contact numbers included for any family, friends etc and your Veterinarian.
In this situation mentioned we were able to work from Canada in behalf of our American friend. The birds were cared for by a close friend. The whole situation could have been smoother, and less stressful on our part with the necessary information in advance. Stop to imagine if things were different and no one was notified to care for the bird for the week their owner was hospitalized. Not a pretty thought. Sometimes we figure that family knows how to care for our fids. But in an emergency do they really know everything they should? In the event of our death, who will take care of the fids? Do these individuals know this in advance? Many times Companion Parrots are left to people who do not really want them and they end up sold, given away or handed over to a rescue to "deal with". As a Parrot lover and Parront we are responsible for their welfare even in our absence.
Having a living will, or a notarized paper telling all the details relevant to our flock will save alot of guess work later on for those responsible for our estates. We will have the peace-of-mind knowing we have placed our baby's into caring, informed hands and provided for their future without us. No one likes to dwell on death, but once we take care of this most important part of "ownership" of a Companion Parrot(s) we will be able to continue to enjoy every day we have here on Earth with them. Up dates to the notebook are important. Noting any behavior changes, issues or medical problems as they occur is also helpful for their future care-giver.

Come visit me, SKY, Little Angel, jesse & SWEETIE, Let's talk Parrot for May's BOTM.

Love to all in your happy Thursday home, see ya tomorrow...

Forever love from Jenny & my loving flock---WE CARE

Wow it was cold there this morning too in the low 40s. The sky looks clear though. Maybe we will have a rain free day until the next system starts to roll through! Have a great day. V4U. Hugs.

  Hi SweetPepper
Glad to hear that Kacey had a greyt hatchday and enjoys her new bell.
We have had the heat on all week up here. This isn't how I thought it would be at this time. looks like a cold holiday for us too :(
Still jacket weather up here.
Looks like another night with a freeze warning until 9am. It should be in the mid 50's with some sun tomorrow. Maybe I'll get to sit in the window to get some sun. I got a new toy today ... it was a good chew.
Hugs

  HEYA, SWEETPEPPER!
OH GEEZ, WE ONLY GOT TO 49 TODAY. GREY DAY, JUST BLAH. MOM RAN OUT TO THIS LITTLE DELI PLACE CALLED ONO KINE GRINDZ, WHICH MEANS GOOD EATS IN PIDGIN ENGLISH. IT IS HAWAIIAN, AND OH DO THEY HAVE SOME WONDERFUL FOOD!! SHE SOLD A COACH PURSE, AND WHEN SHE WENT TO PICK UP THE MONEY, SHE FINALLY WAS ABLE TO CHECK OUT THE PLACE. THEY HAVE BOX LUNCHES AND PLATE LUNCHES, AND ALL KINDS OF WONDERFUL STUFF FROM HAWAII. SHE TALKED TO ONE OF THE OWNERS AND ASKED HOW THEY ENDED UP IN WI, AND HE SAID HIS PARTNER'S FOLKS LIVE IN BROOKFIELD, AND THEY ARE THE PRIMARY CARETAKERS DUE TO HEALTH ISSUES. ANYWAY, MOM BROUGHT HOME A BENTO (SMALL) BOX WITH KALUA PIG (PULLED PORK), PURPLE STICKY RICE AND MAC SALAD. AND A PIECE OF MANGO PINEAPPLE CAKE. I TELL YA, MY BEAK WAS SOOOO HAPPY! AND MOM'S TOO! YUMMY! SHE WILL DEFINITELY GO BACK THERE AGAIN. LOTS OF FOOD FOR A GOOD PRICE. WE HAVE LEFTOVERS FOR TOMORROW.

HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A GOOD DAY, AND ARE WARMER THAN WE ARE. GOTTA STOP OVER AND DELIVER KACEY'S CAKE...CYA THERE!

  MY DANCING DARLING
MOM AND I LOVE DWTS, ALTHOUGH LAST NIGHT'S SHOW WAS AFTER MY BEDTIME. MOM WAS SO HAPPY RUMER AND VAL WON. SHE HAS BEEN VOTING FOR THEM FROM THE VERY FIRST SHOW. LIKE YOUR MOM SHE IS A FAN OF VAL'S AS WELL, AND SHE WAS TOUCHED BY RUMER'S STORY. MOST OF ALL THOUGH, THEY WERE THE BEST DANCERS. MOM DID LIKE WILLOW TOO, AND SHE WAS SORRY WHEN SHE GOT VOTED OFF...AND SURPRISED!

I GOT A SUNBATH TODAY, BECAUSE ALTHOUGH THE WEATHER GEEKS WERE SAYING THE HIGH WOULD ONLY BE 69 MOM WENT OUTSIDE AND IT WAS DEFINITELY WARMER THAN THAT. SO AT 11:30 WE WENT OUT AND IT WAS JUST PERFECT. HOWEVER THE RAIN THEY WERE FORECASTING IS NO LONGER SHOWING FOR FRIDAY. BUMMER. WE SURE COULD HAVE USED IT. I WONDER WHAT BROKE UP THE STORM?

MOM WILL BE AT THE GYM BY 4 FOR TRAINING WITH BECKY, SO SHE WILL DEFINITELY ASK HER WHAT SHE THOUGHT OF OUR PICS. THEN SHE MAY OR MAY NOT STAY FOR ZUMBA. ALTHOUGH JOLENE, THE TEACHER WHO TOOK OVER THE 5PM CLASS IS ONE OF MY MOM'S FAVORITES, SHE WON'T BE THERE TONIGHT DUE TO PRIOR COMMITMENTS. MOM WILL CHECK AND SEE WHO THE SUB IS, AND IF IT IS ONE OF THE TERRIBLE ONES MOM WILL COME HOME AFTER TRAINING. YOU KNOW WHAT I AM ROOTING FOR!!

  Hi Sweetpepper
Today we're in the middle of a cool spell. It's around 50, if that, and breezy. Mom is okay with the cool weather, as long as it warms up by Saturday, which is opening day for the pool.
Today mom had 2 tours, one at 10:10 and one at 12:30, so she had over an hour between. She took a book to the museum to read, so it wasn't so bad. The first tour was PA Natural History, so that was fun with third graders. They had a museum quest after the tour, so mom handed out materials for that when she got done. A quest is like a scavenger hunt in the hall on the sheet. This group stayed in North American and Botany Halls to complete their quest. The second group was another 3rd grade but it was the World of Dinosaurs. We all know how much mom loves doing dinos, so that was a fun tour.
Tonight Aunt Gin is bringing dinner with her, and she and mom will watch a movie here. It's called This is where I leave you, I think, and it should be good.
I hope you are having good weather there, not as cool as it is here, and that you are getting lots of cuddles and scritches. Hugs, Falco

Good morning my dear PepperySweetness-from your JL
Our friend Falco has suggested that she nominate LaLo or Ziggy for BOTM, and we must respectfully decline! We have all the awards and accolades that any bird could ever imagine, at least more than we could! We are proud of all our votes (over 26000), but were never a big fan of the vote thing, we were always more into the simple friendships, like 'Hi How Are You and Your Family'! May our Lord richly Bless all in your sweet flock and family, our love to all in your sweet hump day home! Be well dear friends, you are all very loved, give our love to all in your family...

this is day 9 for me with the BC problems ... getting worse not better. Looks like another email going out.
Today was gloomy and only in the high 30's. Mom went shopping and dad cleaned up most of that broken tree mess. I took a greyt nap and was ready to go crazy after dinner. Should be a little warmer tomorrow.

  Hi Sweetpepper
it was a beautiful day today and after mom finished trimming the forsythia off of the road so the township doesn't come and hack them away she was going to take us outside but as she was dragging all the cut branches she saw the neighbor with his pesticide canister strapped to his back spraying his rocks with the wind blowing it right on our property so that put an end to us getting outside.

OH WOW, DID IT GET COLD OUT! CAN'T BELIEVE WE WERE 75 YESTERDAY (THOUGH WITH THE WIND IT DIDN'T FEEL THAT WARM) AND TODAY IT WAS 46. MOM SAYS IT IS PNEUMONIA WEATHER, YOU KNOW?

WE DID NOT DO MUCH TODAY. MOM DID A LITTLE IRONING AND LOOKED FOR JOBS, BUT DID NOT SEE ANYTHING NEW OR EXCITING. SHE HAS NOT HEARD ANYTHING, EITHER, FROM ANYPLACE. SHE DID MAKE AN APPT. TO SEE A FINANCIAL ADVISOR TO HELP HER GET HER IRA'S AND 401K'S IN ORDER. SHE SAYS THAT IS A GOOD TIME TO DO THAT, AS SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH GETTING THOSE CONSOLIDATED INTO SOMETHING DECENT. SHE LISTENS TO THE MUTUAL FUND STORE STUFF ON THE RADIO, AND THEY HAD A FREE OFFER FOR RETIREMENT STUFF, SO SHE GOES IN ON THURSDAY. HOPE THEY CAN GIVE HER SOME ADVICE AND GET HER STUFF ORGANIZED. SHOULD BE INTERESTING.

LIZZIE IS GETTING READY MAKING KACEY'S HATCHDAY CAKE--AND I GUARANTEE YOU IT IS GONNA BE SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL! CYA TOMORROW FOR HER PARTY!

  MY PHOTOGENIC DARLING
MOM ALSO HAD THE IDEA MAXIE'S MOM MIGHT HAVE DONE THAT PIC, SO I EGGSPECT THAT IS RIGHT. I CAN'T REMEMBER A RENAISSANCE FAIRE, BUT MAYBE THERE WAS A JOUSTING CONTEST OR SOMEHTING.

MOM SKIPPED THE GYM AND ZUMBA TODAY, SO SHE DIDN'T SEE BECKY. SHE SUSPECTS BECKY IS WAITING TO TELL HER WHAT SHE THINKS OF THE PICS IN PERSON. SHE HAS MENTIONED TO MOM A COUPLE OF TIMES THAT SHE DOESN'T DO MUCH EMAILING. YOUR MOM SURE GETS A LOT OF EMAILS! MY MOM FEELS OVERLOADED IF SHE GETS MORE THAN 25. AND DAD ONLY CHECKS HIS ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK! HE MOSTLY GETS BILLS THOUGH.

I DID GET A VERY NICE SUNBATH TODAY, ALTHOUGH MOM DISRUPTED IT BY DECIDING IT WAS TIME TO FEED MS GARDENIA TREE. THAT MEANT SHE WENT IN TO THE GARAGE TO GET THE FOOD AND THE GARDENING TOOL, BUT SHE CALLED OUT TO ME WHILE SHE WAS OUT OF SIGHT SO I WOULDN'T THINK SHE HAD LEFT ME OUT THERE. IT WAS KIND OF FUN WATCHING MOM ON HER KNEES DIGGING IN THE DIRT.

AND THEN SHE CAME IN AND WE COOKED A NICE VEGGIE CASSEROLE. OR RATHER "WE" STARTED IT, BUT THEN I KEPT FLYING AROUND AND LANDING ON THE COUNTER AND MOM PUT ME BACK IN THE ROOM. SHE DOESN'T APPROVE OF POOP ON THE COUNTER FOR SOME REASON. HOWEVER THE RICE COOKED IN CHICKEN STOCK AND THEN STIRRED INTO SAUTED MUSHROOMS AND ZUCCHINI WAS PRETTY TASTY. ALTHOUGH SHE MADE TOO MUCH RICE, AND SO SHE STIRRED SOME FRESH SPINACH INTO THE EXTRA. YUCK! WHAT A WAY TO RUIN PERFECTLY TASTY RICE!

  Hi Sweetpepper
We have a couple of places around here that open for breakfast and lunch too, not many, though.
Last night mom worked a special event at the museum and showed lots of folks around dinosaur hall. It's funny, because at some of the special events, the people invited just want to go to the balcony to eat and drink, while at others, like last night, they are happy to see something special before they go to the balcony. There was live music as well as food and drink for everyone.
Today mom went shopping for flowers again, she says for the last time this year, hahaha. She got her peace rose, her pink clematis, and some scented geraniums with a couple of miniature coral salvia and some streptocarpella for the porch planter. She also bought a new planter, it's a tiny wheelbarrow. She got geraniums, dianthus, and vinca for that. She also moved all the house plants outside for their summer vacation. Our little citrus tree has something green on it. Mom thinks it might be a little orange! So that should take care of the plantings in containers for this year. Now to get the tomatoes and peppers in the ground, and we're ready to take pics to share with you.
I hope you are having a great day. After a quick storm last evening, it's been beautiful here, sunny and warm. I also hope you get lots of cuddles and scritches today. Hugs, Falco

  Hello SweetPepper~
I hope you are having a fun day!
The guys are still over there fixing the pool so I still don't know how they are going to fill it. I hope they do it soon because I really want to know! It's funny how we never really paid attention to it before. You can tell that no one here goes swimming! It wasn't a selling point when we rented our apartment. They allowed big dogs and had dog parks so they were a winner as far as we were concerned. The rules have changed since we moved in. They still allow big dogs but I guess they have to okay it first. Same with exotics, which is me! They said we are grandfathered in so it doesn't affect us!
I hope you have the most wonderful day ever!! Leaving a vote and a big hug!
love you ~ Sugar ♥

  Hi Sweetpepper & Kacey
Good morning to everybirdie. Sweetie here with our first blog of the week. I have been enjoying this Canadian long weekend to the max. Warm weather, sunny skies, what more could a bird hope for? Maybe anew toy to chew perhaps?
Your responses have been very interesting and informative. Information sharing is after all what BC is all about. When a group of devoted bird lovers get together for any cause, things just have to happen for the better. Bird Channel consists of a wide mix of people and birds from around the world with many common interests but our passion for Companion Parrots is the foremost. The coined phrase crazy-bird ladies/men couldn't be more true then for those on BC.
I have always believed that the Bird Channel members have the power to bring change in the Parrot owning community. We can impact others through our one to one education. Even telling a stranger not to buy "brand A" for their own Parrot is sharing our knowledge and could make a life-changing benefit to even one more Parrot. It has been very encouraging to read the many ways each of you have helped spread the word. It is unfortunate that many have no Parrot Club close by or Rescues in their close vicinity. That does not lessen our ability to be true Parrot Ambassadors right in our own home towns. It is surprisingly easy to strike-up a conversation about Parrots with almost everyone.
It has made me one happily little bird to read how many have spoken to someone in a store about Parrots, even when you got "the-look" for it. When we share exactly what it means to be a Parront, it gives others something to consider before spending their hard earned money. You might just save a Parrots life too. Something we must all remember though. Not all re-homed Parrots are unwanted. Sometimes it becomes in the bird's best interest to re-home them. Not all Companion Parrots found in rescues are there because they are unwanted, sometimes it is quite to the opposite. They were loved so much that the former owner knew they could not keep their beloved friend for various reasons. It is easy to loose sight of this truth in light of the vast numbers found in Rescues and shelters.
In a perfect World all Parrots could remain in their first home forever, or until their owners go to the Rainbow Bridge. In the real World life changes, sometimes quite quickly, almost over-night forcing surrender of pets that are dearly loved. It becomes a heart-breaking situation when owners have no options left, and no where to turn but to a rescue to take in their best buddy.
NOW FOR TODAY"S QUESTION: what permanent plans do YOU have in place for your fids, should something happen to you? What advice would you give someone in this respect?

Come visit me, SKY, Little Angel, jesse & SWEETIE, Let's talk Parrot for May's BOTM.

  Hi SweetPepper
We had 83 on Sunday but only 73 today. It was a good thing cause of all the trouble we had today.
Yes, this is day 10 for me with BC problems. I had hoped that it would be fixed today.
We had an eggciting day! The half dead tree that cause a power outage before, broke again and took the power lines down and cause a fire. We had fire trucks, tree crew, power crew here today. It was a long afternoon of 7 hours with no power. I didn't like the dark house at all. When the lights came back on, I started running around and playing. Glad it was only 73 today.
Hugs
