Someone gave me up because h thought his new place caused the plucking. Personally I think it was the fact that we moved, he fought with his girlfriend and he had me sharing a cage with a Yellow Nape Amazon.. Awards

Hi! My name is Cuckoo

I am an African Grey from Commack, NY.

Cuckoo Boo...Baby boy...Bubba Bear..Don't ask me why she calls me these wierd names!

14 years old   M

African Grey

Peanuts, apples, pears, canteloupe

Top of my cage, the side of my cage, on play stand. I don't fly around since I pull out my big flight feathers.

Plucking feathers and eating food that is good for me! Other than that I am easy to please!

She spoils me with toys and loves me very much plus she has a great family and friends who I love very much and give tons of kisses. Not to mention those 2 big German Shepherds. They crack me up!

Plucking out those pesky, pretty feathers..

I still is working my motto.....

Tweety needs your votes for her poem. Her foot had to be amputated Feb. 26th due to the main blood supply being cut in her leg. We had to separate her from her cage mate. I wanted to get her a big cage to move (fly around) in and after paying 258.00 for her leg to become amputated we could not afford to buy her the cage of her dreams. We notice that she flies a little to get around her cage and can defiantly use a bigger one. Thank you; please visit her web site at

Come visit me, Tweety, Frosty and Ringo.

Hello again, Cuckoo. The breeder who raised me, taught me from the beginning to eat pellets and vegetables. Pringle, my sister, ate only seeds when we got her. She was introduced to pellets with a spoon previously used to feed her seeds when taming her. She would pick at them and finally learned that they were edible. We introduced her to rice and bread, things that resemble seeds more. She liked rice imediately so we added carrot juice. Slowly bit by bit more vegetables were added to the mix. It took her a year to eat corn and a little longer to eat carrots, which have to be finely cut. I have just discovered this wonderful stuff called peanut butter. My mama puts it on broccoli. It takes me forever to lick and chew the peanut butter off, but some broccoli does go down. Do you take an interest when your humans are eating? Maybe they could eat corn or some other healthy birdie food in front of you? I was scared of berries for a year, now I gobble them down immediately. Our local vets office took in a double yellow headed amazon that ate only seeds. He learned to eat pellets with organic grape juice being put on them. I prefer soft wet foods, while Pringle likes her food dry. You could experiment with all types of combinations. I hope you can translate all of this into human. Sometimes I get frustrated when I ask for supper in the mornig and it does not come. Well I hope this helps. Please feel free to ask if you have any more questions. I hope this is not too long. Poirot

Hello Cuckoo, welcome to the club. It is nice that you are in a caring and loving home now. As for your nicknames... those humans have a tendency to go gaga over us, and sometimes some very strange sounds come out of their mouths, especially when we do something cute. Poirot
